Global Warming? Not in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!

Those of us that have lived in Puerto Vallarta for many years agree, the fall and early winter of 2010 was the coldest we’ve witnessed. Everybody seems to be talking about the unusually cool evenings and mornings; so cold that many of the local women are wearing sweaters and some of the guys are even wearing long pants!

We were curious as to just how cold it’s been so we decided to do a three month weather review of Vallarta. According to the Wunderground website, there has been no measurable amount …

The World’s Only Natural Island Green in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

If you golfers want to have the time of your life, bring your sticks to PV where you’ll find seven months of monotonous winter weather, from November through May, when the average daily temperature is 73*F with virtually no rain. You’ll have nine incredible courses to play and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to include the unforgettable #3b hole at Pacifico; the hole with the world’s only natural island green.

Pre-Boomers Living It Up In Mexico

First, let’s define Pre-Boomer; obviously it’s before Boomer! The Baby Boomer Generation is defined as those born after World War II; generally between the years of 1944 and 1964. Consequently, the oldest of the nearly 80 million US born Baby Boomers are just now turning 65 years old.

The Pre-Boomer Generation is typically defined as those born during the 20 year period prior to the end of WW II or roughly from 1924 to 1944. There were approximately 50 million people born in the US during this time frame. These Pre-Boomers …

Loreto Bay Development Closes Down

We’ve had many people ask about what is going on with the Loreto Bay development, so I figured I’d better offer up a report. It looks like the developers (TSD Loreto Partners), have more or less run out of money. They have, and still are, looking for someone to take over the development, but so far they haven’t had any luck. Without the necessary money needed to continue operating the development, though, they have been forced to close up shop. This obviously will have a serious impact on the property …

Campeche: Mexico’s New Land of Opportunity

The State of Campeche, Mexico, has walked onto the 21st century world stage already a star, ready to do business and provide a good life for retirees. Publicity has recently come with the addition of two sites on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list: the Historic Fortified Town of Campeche and the Ancient Maya City of Calakmul, but there is much more to this state that makes it so attractive to both large and small investors.
There is no need to worry about how hard it might be to go …

More Par Threes, More Holes-In-One?

One of a series of reviews about golf courses and golf real estate in Mexico.

The Grupo Mayan golf club offers a breathtaking Nicklaus-design course set within the grounds of the Mayan Palace hotel between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Despite having 18 holes each with a par of just 3, this is by no means a pitch-and-putt.

Ideal for practicing your short-play and squeezing in a round that would take longer elsewhere, this exceptionally beautiful course features sand traps, jungle vegetation and lakes surrounded by rocks, a challenge for even the …

Golf in the Riviera Maya and Mexico

Dubbed the “New Green Paradise” by some, the Riviera Maya is fast becoming the discerning golfer’s favorite location in Mexico. A plethora of world-class courses and country clubs have sprung up in the last decade and a good number more will open their fairways soon.

The first ever PGA tournament was held on the Caribbean coast here in 2007 and with courses designed and backed by the likes of Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus, and Robert Trent Jones Jr, it’s little wonder why this is one of the world’s fastest growing hotspots …
