Mayan Theme Park Coming To Los Cabos

CaboA new theme park project called "Mayan Adventures" will go ahead now in Los Cabos, instead of Cozumel as originally planned. Thomas Ford, CEO of park developers, Elated Worldwide, said last week that the project's American investors had wanted Mexican investors involved, but the Mexican investors would only invest in the concept if it was built in Los Cabos. Elated Worldwide announced the intention to build a Maya-themed attraction in Mexico in January and has been trying to secure funding since. The company was created last year to raise money, construct and manage the project. The company's directors all come from a military background. Ford couldn't give specific reasons why investors preferred Los Cabos to Cozumel, but he said they would have a good market there and have already secured land, even though the real estate in Cabo was slightly more expensive. That is the dumb move . first no Mayas in baja California, second there are more turist that visit quintana roo than los cabos.

Many more cruiseships and stays are longer in yucatan peninsula then in Baja.. they should think twice

This is a scam. There is no “Elated Worldwide”. They are just trying to get investors to invest in air and run.

Just check out their web site on Google: http://www.elatedeg.com/ and you will see that it is not there anymore. If you look at the cached version on Google you will see a bunch of copy with names of development companies that don’t exist. Also, see if they have any track record of ANY theme park and you will see that it is all smoke and mirrors. Watch out for this one Cabo!

    Thank you for your comments.

We spoke personally with Thomas Ford by telephone and this article was based on his comments. We must stress that we are not in any way involved in the project and were simply reporting what he told us.

Following Bob’s comments and also the apparent lack of marketing logic for the move to Los Cabos, as highlighted by Alfonso, we thought we should investigate further..

For the last two days we’ve been trying to contact Elated Worldwide without success, they don’t return calls, their websites have gone offline, some of the people involved do not appear to exist and we also have information that they have vacated their offices in the USA.

There may of course be a innocent, rational reason for this, but when they are completely unavailable we simply do not know.

Given the lack of verifiable information for this project we must advise extreme caution to anyone considering investing or becoming involved wih Elated Worldwide. To be very clear: RE/MAX Investment Properties is not involved with Elated Worldwide nor do we endorse this project in any way, shape or form.

Elated Worldwide: if you read this we welcome you to reply.

Bob – thank you for drawing this to everyone’s attention.

There isnt anything negative on the website about the company or project. Maybe they didnt pay their dues for the website and it was disabled.Stop being so quick to judge. I could be wrong but lets try to be positive especially for all of us that have invested so much time with Tom Ford. Personally speaking, I think a theme park would be great for our area.

  • Bob Rodriguez said:

Ian is right. No one is being quick to respond. There has been a lot of due diligence on this non existent project. Face it; they can not be reached because they are gone! I challenge you to prove us wrong.

A theme park would be great of course. But a scam would make people like Christina and others who spend their time, and more importantly their money; the biggest losers. I’ve been around for over a quarter of a century on Cozumel and I’ve seen people like this trying to get money and fold their tents only to take the money and run.

This would not be the first time a smooth talker convinced people to invest in a bogus project. As a licensed Real Estate Broker in both California and Florida I say: “Buyer Beware”!

Also they say that they are from San Diego. I have lots of friends in the business of commercial real estate in San Diego. These people are not part of that community.

Just a quick update: we’ve been waiting 10 days for a response from Elated now and haven’t heard a thing.

We’ve left messages on their voicemail and had no reply.
We’ve emailed their Elated email addresses and had no reply.
We’ve emailed the address their domain is registered under and it bounced back.
We called the person named as their Investor Relations Manager on a previous press release and he said he no longer works for them and can’t help.
And their websites are still down.

I’m sorry to say it, but they do appear to have vanished into thin air.

Our investment advice is not to get involved…

I can’t speak in regards to the legitimacy of the investment fund for Elated WorldWide, but I can confirm that the plans for the park are legit. The Architectural Firm backing the project is world class and have worked with several big players in the theming and entertainment industry.

I’m a professional in the Water Park/Theme Park Industry and wouldn’t be waisting my time following this project if I didn’t know there was a real chance the project would get off the ground. I’m involved in numerous large theme park projects around the world that are currently on hold due to the current global financial crisis. Even industry giants like Six Flags weren’t able to weather the storm and were forced into Chapter 11. Lack of financing is sole reason why this project is slow to get off the ground, but I’m confident it will all come together. Maybe not in time to open next year, but soon enough.

Todays Themed Water Parks are huge money makers and attendance has never been better. Financial institutions are slowly starting to loosen their purse strings, which will allow some of these monstrous projects to get off the ground. The days of a bare bone concrete water park with nothing but fibreglass slides grouped together are a thing of the past. Fully themed and interactive designs are what is expected now and they don’t come cheap.

    Thanks Ron.

Following our chat offline I’ve confirmed you’re referring to DKY Architects in Irvine, California, who have been involved from the beginning and have been very helpful – we’d spoken with them a few times previously about the project.

We’ve just spoken to them again today, and they have told me that the idea is still alive and Elated are still involved, but they prefer not to say any more than that.

I’ve sent another email to Elated in the hope they may finally respond to confirm this themselves too.

Maybe Ron knows something we don’t and perhaps if the details for the investment opportunity become clearer we’ll be able to change our advice, but at the moment the rest of us are still in the dark..!

  • Roy Propsner said:

All the comments are right on. Our company was approached by Elated. We help (design build) fund theme parks and other projects. They “were” struggling to find investors. We could not help them as they did not have the right documents and preparation for us to submit to investors. They also did not have any money. That makes for more difficulty. They “hounded” us for several months. Questioning their move to Cabos is a good start toward due diligence. There is so much more wrong with this group and their effort, any due diligence should start with an interview with Roy Propsner. (google)

Cracks me up that people still fall for this stuff. Sigh.

This is just a big scam; Ford is just a low-life liar and a cheat. He never had any investors, he lied to the real estate people in Mexico and California as well. He is exactly the type of person who should be behind bars and be the center of entertainment in the shower. He is scum, run, don’t walk away. Call the cops – a very bad person.

    Hi Martin

Thank you for your reply, it’s interesting that this discussion is still drawing attention.

You made some serious claims against Thomas Ford, can you back them up? Have you dealt with Ford personally? We’d love to hear some reliable information from people who have been involved personally.

Thomas Ford/Elated – we’re still hoping you will reply to these claims against you. Your silence speaks words.

Our investment advice remains not to get involved in this project. Look instead at the many other SOUND investment opportunities in Mexico.

Important – please note: We have not, nor would we ever, act in the manner described. Thomas Ford prides himself in being ethical, transparent and always above board. But we strongly suggest you do your own due diligence by learning more about Elated Worldwide Group and Thomas Ford by checking with the California Secretary of State Office and/or the Securities Exchange Commission and reach your own conclusions. Thank you.
