As the citizens of other nations waste time fighting about how, or even if, their sick and poor should be given a hand up, Mexico is meeting the call to moral and ethical arms head-on. There is no magical scheme that will alleviate poverty without financial support. The only way a government can legitimately obtain the money it needs to do anything is through taxes. At this point, the people of any nation must decide whether or not they have the collective will to attack poverty, hunger, and sickness. Mexico has stepped up to the plate on this issue and has become a world leader in the areas of green living and sustainable development. This attitude is now bringing Mexico into the direct line of sight for real estate investors who are looking for every type of investment from eco-tourism to the technology associated with green living and sustainable development.

The State of Chiapas may just have become investment destination number one for investors who recognize the future opportunities of the concepts involved in green living and sustainable development, . For years, this state has been plagued with intermittent political and social unrest caused by extreme poverty. Now, in September 2009, the United Nations gave  accolades to Mexico for taking the moral high road, at a time when other nations are cutting social spending, and for creating new, tax supported green living and sustainable development programs. The first of these programs is Nuevo Juan de Grijalva Housing Development, in the Municipality of Ostuacan, Chiapas.

When this particular project is complete, Nuevo Juan de Grijalva will be a sustainable city, with a balance between productive, social, cultural and ecological components. There will be gender equity, and social participation, as well as ethnic, cultural and religious diversity. All of this will be accomplished through the coordinated work of government, private enterprise, and non-governmental organizations. In effect, this will end the ethnic and social tensions that have plagued Chiapas for decades, since those negative characteristics are usually brought about, in any nation, by persistent poverty and hopelessness among groups that can be defined by their social, religious, or ethnic characteristics.

This is a new day in Mexico and it is the beginning of an era in which real estate investors can not only find properties that are of excellent monetary value, but they can also participate in a morally and ethically courageous future that the people of Mexico have the collective will to persue. The United Nationa and the world are watching Chiapas as this first ever sustainable city continues to develop, so an investment fact-finding trip to the beautiful State of Chiapas is an excellent idea!
