One of Mexico’s most valuable resources is its thousands of miles of tropical coastline which will likely become increasingly more valuable in the future. Here are some of the top locations for beachfront property in Mexico.

5. Cabo San Lucas

At the southernmost tip of the Baja Pennisula, Cabo has become on the top beachfront destinations in Mexico. It has great accessibility from the mainland US, where it can take as little as two hours to get here by air. It also has a strong rental market where visitors are willing to pay $1,000 per week for a modest rental unit in a popular area. Los Cabos has a quality infrastructure and has attracted many multinational companies like Home Depot, Costco, and others so it is ideal for individuals who want to move out of the country without feeling like they have moved out of the country.

4. Cancun

While Cancun has the some of the most expensive real estate in Mexico, there is also tremendous vacation rental demand since Cancun is the number one tourist destination. Despite hotels that go on for about 18 miles in the hotel zone, hotel occupation hovers around 80% in the spring and summer months according to the Hotel Association of Cancun. Beachfront property in Cancun has the potential to generate significant cash flow from rentals, and has continued to appreciate despite critics wrongly predicting it has peaked years ago.

3. Manzanillo

Manzanillo is just south of Puerto Vallarta on the west coast of mainland Mexico and is known as a family orientated quiet port town. Manzanillo is also a busy port where the major cruise lines Holland America and Carnival have expressed plans to make routine stops for their Mexican cruises. With a reputation for its great fishing, Manzanillo hosts an international sport fishing competition, which draws professional and amateur anglers. This is one of the most family friendly beachfront destinations because it has the lowest crime rate in the state of Colima which is the state with the lowest crime rate in Mexico.

At slightly higher in latitude than Hawaii, you are sure to find ideal weather throughout the year. Honorable Mentions

Playa del Carmen

Located just a short drive south from Cancun, Playa del Carmen has many of the scenic qualities of Cancun without the large crowds. Playa del Carmen residents can explore the nearby Mayan ruins or take the ferry to the tropical island of Cozumel. A resident I talked to said that Playa del Carmen has benefitted from the tourist dollars that flow into the area which has helped build quality roads and infrastructure.
