We are constantly asked, by young people, if there are jobs available for them in Mexico. There are not only jobs available, but many pay so well that even a young person can easily afford to live quite well in Mexico and still have enough left over to invest in real estate there. The only question remaining is: What kind of job does the young person want, and what do they have to do to get it? Once again, if the young person will live modestly and invest the rest in a variety of properties in Mexico, from rental homes to parking lots, they will be financially secure within a very short period of time.
The first job that comes to mind, for young people who want to move to Mexico, is teaching English. There are hundreds of these jobs open all the time. The bad news here is that they usually pay very little, and the teachers must often share a home. This does not bode well for the prospect of being able to purchase their own home, much less invest in additional real estate, any time in the near future.
Yet, if someone is willing to take Spanish in college and stay in school until they get their master's degree, they can teach in a university in Mexico and enjoy quite a nice upper-middle class life, complete with opportunities to tutor in industry. They can take advantage of Mexico's cultural offerings, as well as enjoy excellent health care and retirement benefits - and will have plenty left over for purchasing a home and investing in real estate.
Not everyone wants to go to college. What about young people who want to be boat mechanics and spend their time playing on the beach. Chances are, their parents have admonished them that they are simply going to have to grow up! Not so! What they are going to have to do is graduate from a technical school and learn to speak 2 additional languages. Then, they can laugh all the way to the bank being a boat mechanic for the resort boats and/or sport fishing boats on the best beaches of Mexico. These jobs require only the skills to fix the motors, obtained in a good technical school, and the ability to speak three languages: English, Spanish and either French, Italian, or Dutch. If the young person is willing to live modestly, they can live well and still have enough left over to invest in Mexican real estate.
In addition, there is always the hospitality industry. There is a job, right now on one of the hospitality boards, for an executive chef at a resort in Mexico. The salary is $60,000 USD per year, which is major money in Mexico! How does one get such a job? Graduate from a well known culinary school, such as the one begun by world famous John Folse, and take Spanish in college. Once again, if the young person will live modestly and invest the rest in a variety of properties in Mexico, from rental homes to parking lots, they will be financially secure within a very short period of time.
There is a place for everyone in this world, and there is a place for everyone in Mexico, if they only know where to look and how to connect the dots. Investing in real estate in Mexico is not just for older folks who worked hard and saved for future investments all through their working lifetime. Investing in real estate in Mexico is also for young people who have the good sense to develop a life plan that fits their own wants and needs, while keeping an open mind with open borders.
